HUMMER H4

2012 Hummer H4 is the latest Version of 2012 Hummer. 2012 Hummer H4 which consume gasoline surging toward $4 per gallon and massive SUVs. The 2012 Hummer H4 is falling especially out of favor; 2012 Hummer H4 would seem that GM's Hummer division would be entering the autumn of its years.

The 2012 Hummer H4 is building hugeness less of a calling card a progression that started with the finish of the H1.  The 2012 Hummer H4 gives you the best ride of the off-road adventure. Which the 2012 Hummer H4 had their best.

The HX sports full-time four-wheel drive with locking front and rear differentials, 35-inch tires, a 3.6-liter direct-injected V-6, and an electronically disconnectable front antiroll bar in this 2012 Hummer H4.

A famous auto site mentioned that the 2012 Hummer H4 will be produced in China in the near future. The memo said “Tengzhong will launch H3 and H4 CUV before 2012. Marketing Maintenance, and research center will not stop the Hummer,”.

With gasoline surging toward $4 per gallon and massive SUVs falling massively out of favor, it would seem that GM's Hummer division would be entering the autumn of its years. But according to J. D. Power and Associates, the brand captures and retains owners better than most, so it's worth nurturing. The trick is making hugeness less of a calling card - a process that started with the demise of the H1 - but preserving extreme off-road ability. As anyone who has done any serious off-roading can attest, size is your enemy on the trail, so a smaller but still off-road-ready Hummer, perhaps like the HX concept (below), makes perfect sense. The HX gives us a good look at the upcoming H4, and if that new entry has all the off-road gear of the show car, it'll be a strong addition to the lineup. The HX sports full-time four-wheel drive (naturally) with locking front and rear differentials, 35-inch tires, a 3.6-liter direct-injected V-6, and an electronically disconnectable front antiroll bar - not to mention that unmistakable blocky styling.

The new powertrain combination improves efficiency compared to previous models.

"2008 HUMMER H2 is a significant step in the evolution of this iconic vehicle," said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. "From performance to comfort and security of general refinement, the new composition of H2 to produce more of what customers expect from HUMMER, are particularly affected by the new, more refined interior."

HUMMER H2 2008 revealed that in the New York Auto Show. Changes within and outside the propulsion system are also included on the H2 SUT. The '08 H2 and H2 SUT go on sale later this year.

The new powertrain combination consists of a 6.2L all-aluminum small-block V-8 engine, rated at 393 hp (293 kW) - an increase of about 20 per cent on the previous engine - and a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission transmission. Performance-optimizing engine technologies like variable valve timing and six-speed large gear, including an overdrive "high", the performance and efficiency are improved compared to previous models allow.

"This is one of the few cases in which improve performance has been adapted for more efficient," said Walsh. "More power to H2 helps make highway movements such as typing on a freeway ramp, feel effortless while enhancing towing capacity."

Brand new, luxurious interior equipped

While drivers will feel the '08 H2 improved performance on the road, they'll appreciate it more when she knows the all-new interior. It has a completely redesigned dashboard, new seats - including a full third row seating for two passengers, new door panel trim, new controls, new rear seat heating / cooling, new to the general rear DVD entertainment system and a new family of premium radios.

"The new interior offers a refined, premium feel while maintaining HUMMER's trademark ruggedness," said Dennis Burke, interior designer. "Just flush feel for the controls of the materials exudes craftsmanship in new H2, while the little details, like leather seat piping, create a consistent approach, style, premium interior design HUMMER full range. "

Seats in the H2 have a chiseled appearance and offer new convenience. In fact, HUMMER engineers focused on every detail to improve interior comfort. For example, seat belts before the siege are mounted on the vehicle battery B-pillars rather than seats themselves. This change has allowed for uncompromising comfort for the seats of engineering. Seat Belt front seat is new, too, and are standard.

Complementing the new seats, door panels and trim a new instrument panel and new panel of six gauge that includes a more refined and better tolerance. In fact, the new interior is designed with gap tolerances within a millimeter or less. Soft-touch materials and new, more tactile controls enhance the feeling of craftsmanship. A new center stack houses the climate controls and a new family of GM radios - including a standard premium Bose audio system and an available surround sound. The instrument panel also features new vents that enhance heating or comfort cooling throughout the vehicle - especially for second-row seats and third.

Numerous comfort and convenience features are new or transferred in the '08 H2, such as a new rear-seat DVD entertainment system at the top, navigation system, rear camera system view and the heated windshield washer fluid. OnStar and XM Satellite Radio are standard.

The '08 H2 also offers a remote starting system allows the vehicle to be heated or cooled prior to driving.

Driving experience

The core of the '08 H2 is a new 6.2L V-8 engine that uses variable timing technology to maximize performance and fuel economy. It is rated at 393 hp (293 kW) and 415 lb.-ft. of torque (574 Nm). The engine also features lightweight materials, including an aluminum engine block, which helps reduce total vehicle mass.

6.2L V-8 of technologically advanced features also help it meet new federal emissions standards a year before mandatory implementation.

A new six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD electronically controlled automatic transmission backs the 6.2L engine. The six-speed automatic transmission has a wide 6.04:1 overall ratio - including two overdrive gears - that helps deliver an excellent balance between performance and fuel economy. Also, the 6L80 has a "tap up / tap down" that allows the driver to manually select the changes by a button on the handle of the column.

The powertrain combination helps the 2008 H2 and H2 SUT deliver an additional 1,500 pounds (680 kg) of towing capacity - an increase of 6,500 pounds (2948 kilograms) of 8,000 pounds (3629 kg). A number of additional revisions to the propulsion system also helps improve performance and efficiency of the H2, including:

High capacity cooling system more complete, more powerful engine

The electric engine cooling fans reduce "drag" the engine, which allows more power

Regulated voltage control maximizes fuel economy by charging electrical components only when necessary

New LAN architecture is more efficient electric and consumes less power

Standard 3.73 rear axle ratio

Off-road feel was also improved with the new powertrain system. The 6L80 transmission's tap up / tap down feature provides more control on grades and it offers automatic grade braking. It also enhances off-road gear ratio to approximately 39:1 - an improvement of about 20 percent.

The transfer case is improved '08 H2 is stronger and better performance. A new traction control is standard, which helps ensure sure-footed traction in most driving conditions.

The performance of off-road or is reinforced by a steering mechanism that is reviewed and a quick ratio improvement in central-returnability. The driving experience also is quieter and more refined, thanks to the new air intake and exhaust systems tuned.

Safety Standard

Complementing the range H2 performance and comfort changes are enhancements of the security system. They include many new standard features:

Roof rail head curtain side airbags, first, second and third row passengers with rollover sensing system

Pretensioner seatbelts (front seats)

System, electronic stability control with roll

New system for traction control

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Also new is a panic brake assist feature - the first application of a full-size truck or SUV from GM - which detects emergency braking situations and maintains maximum brake pressure to help stop the car more quickly and with more control. It is a standard feature on all H2 models. In addition, the OnStar system now offers the optional navigation system Turn-by-turn. Other optional features that contribute to safer driving include HUMMER rear vision system - a rearview camera system - and a navigation system.

Exterior improvements

All 2008 H2 models are distinguished from previous models with functional changes that maintain HUMMER identify design instantly recognizable. The iconic, seven-slot grille features larger openings and lower grille has also been expanded to meet the cooling needs of the most powerful 6.2-liter V-8. The lower bumpers are painted 08 models of silver (previous models had black lower bumpers).

Soul HUMMER

While '08 H2 is offered a new engine and interior, its foundation remains the same: a fully welded ladder-type frame that features a modular, three-piece design of a number of hydroformed components. This design provides excellent strength, stiffness and dimensional accuracy.

The H2 has short overhangs for radical approach and departure angles and exceptional ground clearance for minimal impact on trails. Standard 17-inch, heavy, front suspension and independent five-link suspension at the rear offers improved handling, transportation and towing. The solid rear axle ensures durable sure footedness, particularly in tight, off-road situations. Also standard is underbody protection and rocker protection. These elements allow the H2 Hummer mantra of capability, including traveling through streams 24 inches (508 mm) deep, climbing 16-inch (406 mm) steps and rocks and paddling through deep sand or snow .

A new four-channel anti-lock brake control / traction (ABS / TCS) provides optimum control on slippery surfaces. In addition, the ABS to detect and adjust its braking capabilities off-road rough surfaces such as gravel and holes. TCS also includes the ability to gain traction through a single wheel, if necessary, and more wheel slip in traction control mode for the second sand and desert racing conditions.

A self-leveling rear air spring suspension system is available for extreme off-road and towing needs.

H2 SUT - maximum utility and fun

Like the H2, H2 SUT carries passengers and cargo, but does so with a twist: an open bucket allows easy storage of large items. When cargo requires more space, a 4 foot by 6 foot (122 cm by 244 cm) pickup bed can be created by providing the rear window in Midgate, then bend forward of the bulkhead and seats back. With four passengers on board, the bulkhead is at the rear of the SUT's cabin stood, providing ample cargo capacity.

Practice hand, H2 SUT also offers an open, exciting driving experience. By pressing a button, the driver can lower all four side windows and rear window. Using a separate switch, the standard sunroof can also be opened, giving SUT a truly open feeling air.

HUMMER H1

Modern chariot of the military, the AM General HMMWV has become a mechanical symbol of freedom. The mere sight of one conjures patriotic spirit and forces a smile. Designed in the late 1970s to extreme performance specifications that would daunt even NASA engineers, it's the Humvee's unrivaled capabilities and unmistakable appearance that have transformed the mighty vehicle into a respected off-road icon.
In a rare case of military-commissioned hardware becoming available to the public, the civilian Hummer started selling in small numbers in 1992. While some packaging elements were softened for real-world use, the hardware that made the Hummer special remained intact. This is historically fitting coming from AM General, a company whose roots stretch back to Willys-Overland and the production of the original "Jeep" during WWII.

Through the years, we've evaluated the Hummer in the harshest conditions available, ranging from Death Valley Torture Tests to running the AM General's Indiana proving grounds. In these brutal environs, the Hummer's abilities never cease to amaze. At AM General, we've run the gamut, putting the Hummer through military-grade tests: scaling a 22-inch vertical wall, traversing a 40-degree side slope, climbing 60-degree grades, and fording 30 inches of water. Perhaps being built to have a 15-year service life in the hands of 18-year-old drivers is the most impressive spec of all.

Without question, its off-road credentials are impressive, but how does the Hummer do in suburbia? Representing the extreme end of the vehicle spectrum, with a Ferrari F60 at the other, compromises are assumed with the Hummer. It is a massive 7154-pound vehicle that measures 101 inches across at the mirrors, requiring it to be driven more like a large commercial vehicle than nimble sport/cute. But for the driver who can appreciate the heritage and abilities, the abundant compromises can lend a certain novel charm.

Ingress requires at least average-length legs and certain spryness; it's necessary to step over a large sill that gives the long body essential structure. Inside, all passengers find themselves cocooned in tight chambers despite a living-room-sized interior. It is hard to believe a battle-dressed soldier would have adequate space. A wide central section accommodates the high-mounted engine and transmission, a design feature critical to the 16-inch ground clearance. The seats are basic 1980s-era buckets with limited adjustments, though they are downright cushy compared the punishing pews the mil-spec Humvee uses. Likewise, the dash and its accompanied switchgear appears kit-car crude, but again is quite full-featured compared to the Spartan military models. Fire up the 6.5-liter turbodiesel V-8 and the truck chugs like a Freightliner, ensuring the neighbors can easily track its comings and goings. Visibility is hampered by the short vertical glass and towering ride height. Backing out of the driveway requires a mirror triple-check, due to a significant blind corner on the driver's side.

Once on the road, the Hummer feels large and ponderous. Its 195 horsepower work to get the rig up to speed, with glacial throttle response. Passing maneuvers are feasible but they must be strategized. Momentum management is the key, whether accelerating or decelerating. Driving in the slow lane and leaving a generous amount of space between vehicles are natural cautions and prove to be little inconvenience. The auditory assault from the engine, 37-inch tires, and to a lesser degree, wind noise acts as a rudimentary speed governor. Fortunately, the powerful Monsoon stereo can drown out the noise with large speakers aimed right at the passengers' heads.

For both performance and sound output, we wish the 6.6-liter/300-horsepower Duramax turbodiesel offered in the Chevrolet heavy-duty pickups were available. For now, AM General is very committed to the older 6.5-liter due largely to the military necessity of minimizing the number of parts and service protocols, especially for forward deployments.

Designed to negotiate tight motor pools, trails, and war-torn streets, the relatively small turning radius adds tremendously to the suburban driving ease. With a 26.5-foot turning diameter, the Hummer can pull into most parking spaces without a five-point operation. Of course, losing sight of the car next to you when parking does take some getting used to. The steering wheel itself is slightly undersized. Factor in the extremely flat turning dynamics (due to massive springs to accommodate the 1.5-ton cargo capacity), and handling is actually one of the most fun aspects of driving the big Class 3 truck. Braking is not quite as enjoyable. The pedal travel on our tester was limited to almost millimeters, requiring deft pressure application to get the desired result without lunging passengers forward. On the plus side, the four-channel ABS disc brakes provide an extra measure of safety and control when the surface is slippery, especially off pavement.
Tooling through greater suburbia a decade after the Gulf War, the Hummer still turns heads. Motorists being aware of the vehicle helps on those occasions when you need to make a tough turn through traffic, there is less worry the oncoming vehicles won't see you. We had curious onlookers ask numerous questions as we drove around, with the most frequent being, "How much does it cost?" No one was prepared for the answer: $109,000 base price for the wagon. Our tester had the new-for-2002, two-piece 17-inch wheels, pushing the grand total to $111,302.

Practical? No. Fun? Oh, yeah. The Hummer can be used daily by an impassioned, well-heeled driver, but it's most appropriate commuting only as a reminder of the great adventures it can take on the weekends. Although its house-like price puts the original H1 well of the reach of most Americans, the dirt-bound fantasy vehicle will soon spawn more livable and affordable H2 and H3 models.

2010 HUMMER H3

2010 HUMMER H3

Optional for the 2010 HUMMER H3 is a 5.3 Liter V8 engine that boasts an impressive 300 horsepower and nearly 320 pound feet of torque. Paired with the 4 speed automatic transmission, the combo can tow an impressive 6,000 pounds with ease. The fuel economy that is characteristic of the 5.3 Liter V8 engine is less than most drivers would like and is estimated to be about 13 miles per gallon in the city and 16 miles per gallon on the highway. However, it is important to realize that a lot of the fuel economy is more of a result of the sheer heaviness of the vehicle and cannot be solely blamed on the engine.

All the Hummer cars originate from a military vehicle - the M998 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). Since HMMWV is quite of a hassle to pronounce, the soldiers began to call their vehicles Humvee's. When AM General began to produce similar cars for the civilian market, they used the name Hummer. Today, Hummer is a protected name owned by General Motors. AM General sold the name to General Motors in 1999, but continued to manufacture the Hummer, while General Motors became responsible for selling the vehicles on the market.
